Rabbi Osdoba's Siyum in 770 Draws Community

On Monday night, 3 Menachem Av (July 28), shortly after Maariv, a meaningful gathering took place in the main shul of 770 Eastern Parkway. Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba, Mora D’asra and Chaver Beis Din of Crown Heights, held a public siyum on a masechta of Gemara, as part of the nightly siyumim held during the Nine Days.

The siyumim, in line with the Rebbe’s directive to increase in simcha through Torah during this time of national mourning, have become a powerful Crown Heights tradition—drawing participants nightly and bringing inspiration to hundreds.

Last night’s siyum, which marked the completion of Maseches Makkos, was no exception. After concluding the final lines, Rabbi Osdoba shared brief divrei hisorerus, offering timely words of uplift and reflection fitting for the days leading up to Tisha B’Av.

A heartfelt thank you is due to Rabbi Menachem Gerlitzky, who has faithfully organized these nightly siyumim in 770 for decades. His ongoing dedication ensures that the Rebbe’s directive continues to be fulfilled with consistency and kavod, year after year.

As the Nine Days continue, these nightly siyumim remain a steady source of light—uniting the community through Torah and strengthening the spirit of Geulah-oriented preparation.
