Mishpat Sholom

A community-led mediation service guided by halacha and infused with Ahavas Yisrael.

What Is Mishpat Shalom?

Ahavas Yisrael will bring the future Redemption

Mishpat Shalom is a mediation service for the Crown Heights community. Our goal is to resolve every case through Pshara (compromise) rather than Psak Din (strict halachic ruling), for the benefit of all sides involved.

All cases are reviewed by a neutral panel consisting of Rabbonim, community members, counselors, and professionals who work together to understand the situation in depth and help both sides reach a respectful, dignified resolution. All proceedings are under the auspices of the Beis Din of Crown Heights.

This initiative aims to strengthen Ahavas Yisrael and bring our community one step closer to the Geulah with the coming of Moshiach.

Mediation Process

  • Begin by filling out our secure intake form. Each party submits a $50 registration fee, which covers administrative costs.

  • A panel is assigned by Mishpat Shalom based on the topic and availability. Each panel includes Rabbonim and professionals with relevant experience.

  • The panel meets with both parties in a confidential setting to understand the matter and guide toward a mutually agreeable compromise (Pshara).

  • If both parties agree, they may sign a Shtar Birurin (arbitration agreement) to make the resolution legally binding under halacha.

  • If mediation does not result in resolution, Mishpat Shalom provides a list of trusted Batei Din to continue the process formally.

Who Are the Mediators?

Mediators are chosen based on their experience and the subject matter of the case. While parties may not request specific mediators, anyone who feels uncomfortable with an assignment may request a substitution. Mediators are required to confirm there is no conflict of interest before accepting a case.

Under Rabbinic Guidance

All proceedings are supervised by the Beis Din of Crown Heights.

While the goal is always mediation, parties may agree to sign a Shtar Birurin to make the outcome binding.

When mediation is unsuccessful, a list of recommended Batei Din is provided for continued resolution.

Mishpat Shalom is a volunteer-led initiative under the sponsorship of the Vaad Hakohol. The only required fee is a $50 registration fee per party to help cover administrative costs.

We welcome donations to support and expand this initiative. Your contribution helps us offer additional services to the community.

3% Cover the Fee

Mishpat Shalom is a project of the Vaad Hakohol, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Contributions support the administration and growth of this volunteer-led mediation service. Donations are not payment for services and do not influence case outcomes.

Every Act of Peace Brings Us Closer

The Rebbe taught that increasing Ahavas Yisrael hastens the coming of Moshiach. Mishpat Shalom provides a halachic framework to turn conflict into connection—one case at a time.
