Crown Heights Milling Work Postponed Until After Sukkos
In recent days, notices were posted around Crown Heights announcing upcoming milling and paving activity scheduled to begin this week — including work along Kingston Avenue and other key intersections.
Given the timing, on the eve of Yom Kippur and leading into the Sukkos season when thousands of residents and visitors gather in Crown Heights, the Vaad Hakohol immediately raised strong concerns with City Hall.
We are pleased to share that, following swift intervention from the Mayor’s Office, National Grid and NY Paving have confirmed that all milling and related work in Crown Heights will be postponed until after October 20th.
This ensures that our neighborhood’s main arteries will remain clear and accessible for the duration of Yom Kippur and Sukkos.
We thank Mr. Uri Fraenkel, Director of Special Projects at the Office of the Mayor, and Mr. Dante Arnwine, District Manager at Brooklyn Community Board 9, for their quick and effective responses, and we appreciate the DOT’s and National Grid’s cooperation in rescheduling this work.
The Vaad Hakohol will continue to advocate on behalf of the community to ensure that infrastructure projects are planned with sensitivity to our unique calendar and needs.
With blessings for a meaningful Yom Kippur and a joyous Sukkos.
